Crowds, And Cops, Gather At DFW Bars For St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

If you went out this weekend, you may have noticed the same number of Dallas cops despite smaller St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

That's because DFW law enforcement wanted to make sure businesses have been running smoothly during Texas' first mask free weekend.

Code enforcement, police, and Dallas Fire-Rescue were out on Greenville Avenue even though this was the second year without the St. Patrick's Day parade. Authorities' main concern was to make sure businesses didn't go over its occupancy limits.

Local businesses, especially bars, were thrilled that crowds returned over the weekend after the state lifted its COVID-19 restrictions.

"We’ll sell what we can and do what we can, and try to make the most of it," Amanda Campbell, manager of Halcyon, told FOX 4.

Dallas authorities said that local business owners were cooperative, but social media users criticized photos of large crowds gathering on outdoor patios. In Dallas, there are no occupancy limits for outdoor patios.

If you want to grab a green beer without the crowds, some DFW bars have extended their St. Patrick's Days specials to last the entire month, according to the Dallas Observer.
