Episode 8: Casey McPherson

Casey McPherson is an Austin, TX based singer / songwriter / musician whose bands include Endochine, Alpha Rev and Flying Colors.  He had a career working in pop music for Hollywood Records / Disney when Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Transatlantic, Liquid Tension Experiment, Neal Morse, OSI, Avenged Sevenfold, Adrenaline Mob, Stone Sour, Flying Colors, Bigelf, The Winery Dogs, Yellow Matter Custard, Twisted Sister, Metal Allegiance) approached him about joining a band with himself, Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple, Living Loud, Angelfire, Flying Colors), Neal Morse (Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Eric Burdon, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors, The Neal Morse Band) and Dave LaRue (Joe Satriani, Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band, Planet X, John Petrucci, Flying Colors).  As you can see, there's quite a bit of experience there and the music they made together brought a new voice to the world of prog rock.

As we await the third installment from Flying Colors, Casey is working on a project called the Cas.E Sessions.  Each month, he takes on a different topic from peace to creativity, change to Syria and, most recently, being a refugee.  The latter was inspired when his daughter's artwork on his passport caused him to be denied entry into Mexico, and to face deportation.  The project gives subscribers a mini-documentary on the song and the writing/creative process along with the song.  It also gives subscribers an opportunity to take part in monthly, private online get-togethers that are part concert and part conversation.  I encourage you to check out casesessions.com to find out more.
