Handmade Sign Warns Florida Motorists Of Speed Trap

Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff's Office were confused after they managed to nab just one driver in a speed trap they set up following complaints that drivers were speeding through the Golden Gate Estates in Florida.

"After a significant amount of time had passed they were puzzled," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. "Traffic was steady, so why had they identified just one driver who was traveling over the speed limit?"

As the deputies left the area for the day, they discovered why everybody was obeying the 45-mile-per-hour speed limit. It turns out that somebody had tipped off drivers to the presence of the speed trap. The deputies found a piece of plywood with the words "police ahead" spray-painted on it leaning up against a speed-limit sign about a quarter of a mile from where they had set up the speed trap.

"Well played, Anonymous Sign Artist. Well played," the sheriff's office joked.
